BIZARRE Valentine's Day ritual: College students to worship Jacqueline as Damdami Mai and Ranveer as Love Guru

In what may be called one of the most bizarre Valentine's Day rituals, the students of Hindu College, Delhi will be worshipping Bollywood actors Jacqueline Fernandez and Ranveer Singh on this Valentine's Day. While last year, they worshipped Disha Patani as Damdami Mai, this year, Jacqueline will replace her to be worshipped by the virgin students of the college. 

Those of you who aren't aware of this weird ritual practised by the students of the said college, allow us to shed some light. Every year, on Valentine's Day a Bollywood actress is chosen by the boys in the hostel, to be worshipped as Damdami Mai. The ritual is practised by the virgin students, the common belief being that those who participate in the pooja will find a partner in the following 6 months. 

A picture of Jazqueline Fernandez will be kept under  the 'virgin tree' within the premises of their college campus. Every year, the said tree is decorated with condoms filled with water and the actress to be worshipped is termed as Damdami Mai for the Valentine's Day. 

While this may have started out as a joke, the ritual continues to take place year after year. This year, a similar ritual for the ladies on campus alo found it's way in which a similar pooja is to be held for a Bollywood actor, selected by the women of the college hostel. The selected actor aka Love Guru for this year happens to be Ranveer Singh. 

A report on the Hindustan Times quoted the president of the Hindu College, Lalit Kumar as saying, "We mostly only choose a Damdami Mata every year, but this year we will also have a new introduction, a Love Guru – the male counterpart of the Damdami Mai. While the Damdami Mai is decided by the boys hostel, the Love Guru was chosen this year by the girls hostel. Jacqueline Fernandez and Ranveer Singh were chosen because they are the hottest and the most in-demand stars right now. Something that makes them worthy of the status of Damdami Mai and Love Guru.
