'Band-aid had been ripped off': Alia Bhatt reveals Mahesh Bhatt's reaction on 'Shandaar' being a flop

Alia Bhatt started her career with Karan Johar's directorial Student of the Year and then there was no turning back for her. Soon after that, she gave a string of hits including Highway, 2 States and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. But it was in 2015 when Alia faced her first flop - Shaandaar which was directed by Vikas Bahl and the actor starred opposite Shahid Kapoor. The movie was a box-office debacle which was a huge blow for Alia.

During a recent interaction with Vogue India, when Alia was asked about her first flop Shaandaar, she stated that she was heartbroken but her dad Mahesh Bhatt was happy. Alia quoted her dad 'the band-aid had been ripped off' and also stated, "He was the only one who celebrated."

Talking about her pre-release jitters, Alia told the magazine, "Sometimes, I joke, ‘Why can’t we shoot films and not release them?’ That would be so much fun. Just send them to another planet."

Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia has a series of films in her kitty. She will next be seen in Sadak 2, which marks her first professional collaboration with dad Mahesh Bhatt and sister Pooja Bhatt. The movie also stars Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur as the male leads. Sadak 2 is slated to release on July 10, 2020.

Alia also has Brahmastra which is helmed by Ayan Mukerji. With this film, Alia will be seen opposite her beau and actor Ranbir Kapoor. The first instalment of the trilogy will hit the screens during Summer 2020.
