Remember Ayushmann Khurrana's successful experiment with the topic of erectile dysfunction in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan? The Aanand L Rai film has just found its sequel, and it is now called Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. This time though the film will deal with the topic of homosexuality.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is set to go on floors in the last week of August. It is scheduled for 2020 release. Director RS Prasanna has not been retained for the film. This time the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer would be directed by Hitesh Kewalya.

Talking about his new project, Ayushmann Khurrana said in a statement, “Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is a beautiful story told in the quintessential Aanand Rai style of filmmaking that will touch your hearts and leave a smile on your face. It is one of the most brilliant films that I have read in a long time and it handles the subject of homosexuality really sensitively. It is a pleasure to collaborate again with the master storyteller of our times. It is an out and out entertaining film that will also make you think and that’s the hallmark of good cinema.”

Producer Aanand L Rai of Colour Yellow Productions mentioned, “The success of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan encouraged us to turn it into a franchise which tackles taboo subjects in the most light-hearted manner. With Zyada Saavdhan, we have a great story in hand and who better, but Ayushmann to play the lead since he brings a whole new level of expression to the table. Hope audiences enjoy it as much as the first film.”

Aanand L. Rai had previously confirmed the sequel of his film and told Mumbai Mirror, “The Shubh Mangal Saavdhan franchise is our tribute to the churning that keeps our society alive. Every installment will deal with a topic that touches every person but no one wants to speak about it publicly. Like the first film, this one too will broach a taboo subject with great sensitivity and light humour. I anticipate a lot of conversations and cheer around the second film too.”

Apart from Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Ayushmann Khurrana also has Dream Girl, where he will be turning into a girl. The actor, who made his Bollywood debut with Yami Gautam in the much-successful film Vicky Donor, has been paired up with her once again in Bala.
