Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli went to the extent of 'using fake names like Rahul' to keep their wedding a secret

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are definitely one of the most loved couples in B-Town today but they were also the ones to start the trend of keeping weddings a secret. Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas were among the few who kept at least pictures from their wedding limited. Nobody would however know that Anushka and Virat went to great extents to keep their wedding a secret, so much so that they lied to everybody around them to keep their identity hidden.

Anushka went on to reveal that nobody except their family members, close friends, wedding planner, managers and stylist Sabyasachi Mukherjee were aware about their identity. She went on to say that Virat named himself Rahul on the wedding day. "We even used fake names while talking to the caterer; I think Virat's was Rahul," Anushka told Vogue magazine.

"We wanted to have a home-style wedding. There were only 42 people there, with all our friends and family present. I wanted it to be about Virat and me marrying each other, and not this big celebrity wedding. The energy at our wedding was blessed," the actress added.

Virushka, as they are popularly called, tied the knot at Borgo Finocchieto in Italy. It came as a surprise to one and all since rumours of their break-up were strife at that point of time. Dating back in history, Anushka and Virat first met and fell in love in 2013 when they were shooting for a commercial together. Soon after, Anushka was spotted cheering for Virat Kohli at his matches. Virat even once made it official by giving her a flying kiss in the cricket stadium.

The couple were believed to be in a steady relationship for four years, before they took the plunge in December 2017. Thereafter, they hosted a wedding reception in Delhi for Virat's friends and family, followed by a reception in Mumbai for B-Town and other high-profile celebrities. It is the same wedding reception post which Ranbir Kapoor's epic photo became a viral meme.

On the work front, Anushka Sharma last appeared in Shah Rukh Khan's Zero. She however has not yet announced her next project. A news of her and Sidharth Malhotra being cast in Tarun Mansukhani's Priceless remake made rounds of the internet in 2014 but there is still no update on the same.
