Megastar Amitabh Bachchan paid Rs 70 crore as tax for the financial year 2018-19. With this, he has earned the title of the highest taxpayer in the Hindi Film Industry, which was earlier held by Salman Khan. The 'Sultan' actor paid Rs. 44.5 crore as advance tax for the fiscal year 2017-18. Akshay Kumar, who had been at the top position for several years, had paid Rs. 29.5 crores in 2017.

Amitabh's spokesperson confirmed the news and stated, "Yes, Mr Bachchan has paid 70 crore tax for the financial year 2018-19.” The actor also paid off the loans of 2084 farmers from Muzaffarpur in Bihar. Reports suggest that he wanted to help the farmers of the country by ensuring them as much freedom of money as he can provide and therefore, he decided to pay off their loans.

Big B was also one of the first actors when it came to donating to the families of the Pulwama Attack martyrs. Amitabh Bachchan reportedly donated Rs 10 lakh each to the families.

Amitabh was last seen in the murder mystery Badla directed by Sujoy Ghosh. He is currently gearing up for Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer 'Brahmastra', which is scheduled to release on Christmas this year. Besides this, he is also set to make his Tamil film debut with Sye Raa.
