Amitabh Bachchan-Ayushmann Khurrana's 'Gulabo Sitabo' to premiere with subtitles in 15 languages

Shoojit Sircar's upcoming movie 'Gulabo Sitabo' is slated for an online release and the makers have been making the most of the same. The movie, featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana in lead roles, would be streamed with 15 language subtitles.

'Gulabo Sitabo' will be one of the first Bollywood projects to premiere with approximately 15 language subtitles viz. Arabic, Russian, Polish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Indonesian, Malay, Korean, Greek, Hebrew, Turkish along with English upon its release. The movie premieres on Amazon Prime Video on June 12, 2020 in more than 200 countries and territories.

The movie has been penned down by Juhi Chaturvedi, who was accused of plagirism by late writer Rajeev Agarwal's son Akira Agarwal. 'Gulabo Sitabo' happens to be the first Bollywood movie under the lockdown which would be streamed directly on the internet without a theatrical release. The stand was taken after seeing the situation post novel coronavirus outbreak in the world.

Describing his move of releasing the movie online, Shoojit had stated in an interview, "I made 'Gulabo Sitabo' as a cinematic experience. It was the situation that called for a decision like this. So I experimented. I'm happy to do this experiment (of releasing the film online). Both 'Gulabo Sitabo' and 'Udham Singh' (his upcoming movie with Vicky Kaushal in the lead role) are cinematic experiences; nothing is less, nothing is more. It's all about creating good cinema."
