Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar’s mother, Aruna Bhatia passed away on Wednesday (September 8) after a prolonged illness, on the eve of the actor’s 54th birthday. Akshay was very close to his mother and both of them have shared about their bond on various occasions. As a tribute to the actor and his late mother, today we will show you a video of when the actor took his mother to her favourite place in the world.
Akshay had shared a video on his Instagram in January last year. In the video, the actor can be seen pushing his mom’s wheelchair as the two entered a casino. While sharing the video, he wrote, “Do more of what you love doing and that’s exactly what the birthday girl did. Spent the past week in Singapore taking mom to her favorite place in the whole world : the casino.”

In an earlier interview with NDTV, Aruna Bhatia had praised Akshay saying that he showers her with immense love and handled everything when his father passed away. “Itna pyaar karna wala bachcha ho nahin sakta, itna dhyan karne wala baccha, ho nahin sakta. He has always done whatever he wanted. And by the grace of god, it worked out. No one in our family is from the film line, so just looking at him on screen, gives me so much joy. He is not just my son. He is so much more than that. After my husband died, he handled everything so well that my pain was reduced. There's no other son like him,” she said.
Talking about the actor’s childhood, she shared he was very naughty. "Itne shaitaan the, poocho mat. Tod-phod, shaitani, ek hi kaam tha. Padne mein dhyan bohot kam that," she said.
A few years ago, Akshay talked to Hindustan Times about his relationship with his mother. “The bond between a mother and her son is so strong yet so gentle...nothing could come between us, no amount of miles or continents can keep us from letting each other know every day that I would be nothing and no one without her.”
