After 22 years of the release of Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar and Manisha Koirala-starrer Agni Sakshi, a sequel is being planned. Director Partho Ghosh is contemplating revisiting the subject about a woman escaping her psychopath husband and starting life afresh with another identity.
Of course, none of the original cast will feature in the new film that will have newer actors. The 1996 hit borrowed inspiration from the Hollywood hit, Sleeping With The Enemy (1991), starring Julia Roberts. Interestingly, around the time Agni Sakshi released, two other Hindi films were made on the same subject —Abbas-Mustan’s Daraar with Rishi Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Arbaaz Khan (1996) and Yaarana (1995) with Rishi, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Raj Babbar. Wonder what is Partho da’s inspiration this time around.
