Karan Johar had announced Tarun Mansukhani's comeback project Drive featuring Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez back in 2017
Dharma Productions announced their project with Jacqueline Fernandez and Sushant Singh Rajput titled Drive back in July 26, 2017. The movie was originally slated to release on Holi 2018 in cinemas. The release date when then shifted to September 7 in the same year. Earlier this year NDTV went on to report that the film had found a new release date.
The latest buzz was that Sushant Singh Rajput-Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Drive was scheduled to release on June 28, 2019. However Netflix, in association with Dharma Productions, announced that they would release Drive as a Netflix Original film.
The movie, which marks Dostana helmer Tarun Mansukhani's comeback into direction, is Netflix’s first original film with Dharma Productions. Talking about the same, Karan Johar, co-owner of Dharma Productions, said, “Our vision for Drive was to make a film that elevates the genre of action-heist films. With nail-biting chases and action sequences, fronted by a spectacular cast, Drive combines the best of Bollywood storytelling with international production quality. I’m thrilled to partner Netflix once again in bringing this incredibly fun film to millions of fans of the action genre around the world.”
Apart from Jacqueline and Sushant, the action-thriller heist film Drive also stars Boman Irani, Pankaj Tripathi, Vibha Chhibber, Sapna Pabbi and Vikramjeet Virk.
