"I left my education because my father was going through this really rough time, financially," Abhishek Bachchan said.
That megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his family had a face severe financial crisis back in the 90s is a fact known to one and all. It all happened when Big B's company ABCL incurred massive losses and the Bachchan family had a tough time overcoming it.
In a recent podcast with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, actor Abhishek Bachchan has now revealed that he had to drop out of college to help his father, Amitabh Bachchan, during that phase of a financial crisis.
'The Big Bull' added that though he qualified enough to help Big B in any way, as a son he felt he should be around his father and help in any way possible during his tough time.
"Well, truth be told, I left university -- I was studying in Boston University. I had declared my major as liberal arts, and then I majored in performing arts. And I left my education because my father was going through this really rough time, financially. He had started this business called ABCL," Abhishek said.
He further added, "I don't think I was qualified to help him in any which way, but I just felt that as a son, I needed to be around my father, and help in whatever way. So I left my college and came back. I started helping him in his company."
Abhishek also revealed that it was then that he started as a production boy and met Ajay Devgn for the first time who later took him under his wings and taught him all about the industry.
During the podcast, recalling how his father called him over the intercom and asked him to come to his study, Abhishek disclosed that that is when his dad and he had a one-to-one conversation where Big B told him that movies, businesses nothing was working out, but they will make it work, together. He mentioned how his father told him he wanted to revive his acting career and told him that both of them would have to work really hard to overcome the phase that they were faced with. He further added that later that day, his dad went to late Yash Chopra and said, "Look, I don't have a job, nobody is giving me work anymore, my movies aren't working, and I've come to ask you to please give me a film to work in." Abhishek revealed that later that evening Aditya Chopra came to their residence and offered Big B 'Mohabbatein'.
Around the same time, Kaun Banega Crorepati also happened to Big B. While 'Mohabbatein' went on to become a massive hit, Amibath Bachchan as the KBC host set benchmarks too. And the rest, as we all know, is history.
