The year 2018 has been high on surprises. While one can safely say that quite a few big ticket films with the star power of the likes of Salman Khan (Race 3), Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan (Thugs Of Hindostan) and Shah Rukh Khan (Zero), failed to impress the audience and pull them to theatres, it's the smaller but content driven films like Raazi, AndhaDhun, Badhaai Ho, Stree among others gathered all the love of the viewers. Fans had a lot of expectations from Aanand L Rai's latest offering - Zero but unfortunately, the movie couldn't live up to it, despite commendable performances from the lead cast.

When asked about the debacle of the Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif starrer Zero and if he was disappointed with the response to the film, Aanand L Rai told PTI, "I won't say I am disappointed. I will need to understand (what went wrong). This is the story I wanted to say and I made it. After making 'Ranjhaanaa' and 'Tanu Weds Manu' and the second one, this film ('Zero') was due for me to make... To take a certain flight and I have not landed on it properly."

He further added saying, "It is a learning and it will help me grow as a director. I am not afraid to take risks and experiment."

Aanand L Rai was present on the occasion of the inauguration of National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC), which was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. The mueseum has been developed in the premises of Films Division in South Mumbai. Commenting on the same, Rai said, "It feels good when cinema gets this kind of attention and focus. And also when the higher authorities are taking care and giving the due which was always needed. It strengthens us."
