Recently, After Hrs told you how Aamir Khan’s Paani Foundation has become successful over the last two years since its inception. Now, we hear that the actor, who has been doing shramdaan (voluntary labour) for the foundation every year, will throw it open to everyone.

From the time it was launched in 2016, wherever the actor has travelled, people have told him how much they love the cause and expressed their desire to work for the foundation.

We hear that on demand from a wide cross section of people, Aamir will soon announce that citizens from any part of the country, who are willing, can volunteer and contribute towards the foundation in a specific pre-decided window. The actor-filmmaker will encourage more people to be a part of this movement to make Maharashtra water-abundant.

Considering Aamir is one of the most influential voices in the country, his message is bound to lead to a lot of aid for the villagers and the movement. A brainchild of Reena Datta, Kiran Rao, Satyajit Bhatkal and Svati Chakravarty, besides Aamir, Paani Foundation also started Water Cup in 2016 with just three talukas

Today, almost 25 per cent of the villages in the state participate in it.

Appealing to all those who are keen to be a part of the movement, Aamir says, “Come, be a jalmitra, work in the villages, do shramdaan, help a village and I assure you that by the end of the day, you will realise that the village has ended up helping you.”
