To commemorate the 77th birth anniversary of Jagjit Singh, a seven-city musical concert has been planned as a tribute to the maestro. The first such concert will be held in Mumbai on February 8 with live performances and get together of friends and fans sharing fond memories of him. A special pack comprising a coffee table book, a DVD of never seen before footage from his Paris concert and a documentary called Kaagaz Ki Kashti made by Brahmanand Singh will be launched that day.

The documentary has people like Gulzar, Subhash Ghai and Chitra (Jagjit Singh’s wife) talking about the man whose unique voice fit the romance and the pathos required for ghazal singing perfectly. “It is a small effort to pay a humble tribute to him. It’s great to see the labour of love of three-and-a-half years now ready for people to experience it,” says Bharmanand, who is also organising the musical concert. The other cities where the concert will be held include Delhi, Chandigarh, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Indore.
