43 years of 'Amar Akbar Anthony': Amitabh Bachchan shares cute throwback photo with toddlers Shweta, Abhishek

It's been 43 years since the hit film Amar Akbar Anthony released! The film directed by Manmohan Desai starred Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan in titular roles along with Shabana Azmi, Neetu Kapoor and Parveen Babi as the female leads. The film was penned by Kader Khan and it was one of the highest-grossing films in the year 1977. Bachchan took to his Instagram page and wrote about the same.

A while back, the legendary actor shared a throwback photo with toddlers Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan visiting him on the sets of Amar Akbar Anthony. He also wrote an anecdote which read as "SHWETA and Abhishek visit me on the set of Amar Akbar Anthony... shooting song 'My name is Anthony Gonsalves'... at Holiday Inn Ball Room... this pic on the beachfront..."

Big B also wrote, "43 YEARS of AAA, today...!!! When Man ji came to narrate the idea to me... and told me the Title... I thought he had lost it... at a time in the '70s when film titles revolved around Behen Bhabhi and Beti, this one was so out of place... BUT..."

Talking about the then box office collections, Bachchan compared it to that of Baahubali. He penned, "It is reported that it did a business of Rs 7.25 cr at that time... inflation-adjusted it crosses collections of Baahubali 2... say the sayers who do calculations. But the fact is it did massive business... did 25 weeks in 25 theatres in Mumbai alone... or so they say... Doesn't happen now... gone are those days!!!"
