With 'Manikarnika', 'Panga' Kangana Ranaut bags 4th National Award, here's a list of all her wins to date

The 67th National Film Awards were announced in New Delhi today. The awards are for films from the year 2019. The event was organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals, which comes under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

While many actors and films were honoured, Kangana Ranaut bagged top recognition as she won a National Award for Best Actor for' Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi', and 'Panga'. This is Kangana’s fourth National Award. In 2008, she won Best Supporting Actress for 'Fashion'. She then won the Best Actress awards for 'Queen' (2014), and 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' (2015).

Kangana Ranaut took to her social media account and shared a video to express her gratitude after winning National Award for 'Panga', and 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi'. She said that she has also directed 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' and thanked the entire team of the film as well the team of 'Panga' for their hardwork. "Everybody, thank you very much, ki aap logon ne iss film ko safal banaya (for making this film successful). Yeh puraskaar aap log mere saath share kijiye please (Please share this award with me)," she said.

Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' traced the journey of the heroic Rani Laxmibai, who fought against the British during India's first war of independence in 1857. Though Rani Laxmibai died during the battle, she inspired the anti-colonial struggle and became one of the most important figures of the Indian freedom movement.

Kangana Ranaut's 'Panga' was released on January 24, 2020, and was directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. The film also starred Jassie Gill, Richa Chadha, and Neena Gupta in the lead roles. 'Panga' shows the journey of Jaya (Kangana) from being a world kabaddi champion to a middle-class working woman to making a comeback to the game with support from her family and friend.

Kangana Ranaut had won the Best Supporting Actor Award for 'Fashion'. It was Kangana's first National Award win. 'Fashion' was released in 2008 and was directed and co-produced by Madhur Bhandarkar starring Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut and Mugdha Godse in lead roles.

Kangana Ranaut's 'Queen' was released in 2014 and also starred Lisa Haydon and Rajkummar Rao playing supporting roles. 'Queen' follows the story of Rani Mehra, a shy Punjabi girl from New Delhi who embarks on her honeymoon to Paris and Amsterdam by herself after her fiancé calls off their wedding.

Kangana Ranaut's 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' was released in 2015. The film was directed by Aanand L. Rai and is a sequel to the 2011 film 'Tanu Weds Manu'. The film also stars R Madhavan, Jimmy Sheirgill, Deepak Dobriyal, Swara Bhaskar, and Eijaz Khan. Ranaut played a double role in the film, that of a Haryanvi athlete.
