Varun Dhawan-Natasha Dalal wedding: A timeline of couple's fairytale-like love story
Varun and Natasha are all set to tie the knot at The Mansion House Resort in Alibaug on January 24.
Bollywood star Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal on Friday left for Alibag along with their families, for their wedding. While the ceremony is on January 24, rituals begin from January 22.
Social media pictures and videos that surfaced on Friday show Varun's parents David and Karuna Dhawan leaving in one car while his brother Rohit Dhawan along with wife Janvi Dhawan and their daughter leaves in another.
Natasha Dalal was also spotted leaving her residence along with her parents.
Varun and Natasha are all set to tie the knot at The Mansion House Resort in Alibaug, that is 20 minutes away from Mumbai via speedboat.
It will be a close-knit family affair, keeping the global pandemic in mind, because there are elder family members in both the families. It will be around 40 people from both the families who gather for the occasion.
However, before the childhood sweethearts finally tie the knot, here's a look at their fairytale-like love story.
Natasha Dalal is a fashion designer by profession. She completed her graduation in fashion designing from New York and returned to India in 2013 following which she established her own fashion brand 'Natasha Dalal' that deals in exquisite lehengas, gowns, and bridal wear.
In December 2020, Varun Dhawan appeared as a guest on Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan's radio show What Women Want where he spilled the beans about his love story with Natasha.
While candidly revealing that Natasha rejected him three-four times before finally accepting the proposal, he said he never gave up hopes of being with her even after being rejected so many times.
He also revealed on the show that it was in the sixth grade that he had first met Natasha. The two were in the same school.
Spilling the beans about his love story, he said on Kapoor Kapoor Khan's show What Women Want in December 2020, "The first time I met Natasha was in the sixth standard. We have not been dating since then. We were friends till the eleventh or twelfth grade. We were very close friends."
He added, "I still remember, we went to Maneckji Cooper, she was in the yellow house and I was in the red house. It was on the basketball court. So, in the lunch break, in the canteen, they give you food and an energy drink. I remember her walking, I remember seeing her and actually when I saw her that day, I felt like I fell in love with her. That was it."
Even though Varun and Natasha always remained tight-lipped about their relationship, it wasn't really a secret. The two had been tapped together time and again at various festivals, date nights etc. However, it was in 2018 that Varun for the first time spoke about him being with Natasha on 'Koffee With Karan' where he was accompanied by actress Katrina Kaif. The same year, he also posted a photo with Natasha from their vacay in London, making his relationship with the designer Insta-official!
Back in 2018, soon after Varun made his relationship with Natasha official, reports of the couple tying the knot started doing the rounds. But that year went by and Varun-Natasha did not exchange the solemn vows. However, in 2019, when Varun's wedding news again became the talking of the town, his filmmaker father David Dhawan told MensXP in an interview, "His marriage will happen next year maybe. I am very happy with their relationship. What more does a father need?"
Varun too had dismissed the reports that year stating it wasn't going to happen this soon. Varun had told Filmfare in an interview, "It's not going to happen this year. I'm not saying I won't get married but it's not this soon."
While in the first of last year it was reported that Varun and Natasha were all set for a May 2020 wedding, the pandemic reportedly played spoilsport and their wedding got delayed. However, at the beginning of the New Year, Varun had in an interview to Filmfare revealed that he will marry longtime girlfriend Natasha 'maybe this year'.
Then, days later, reports of the couple tying the knot on January 24 at The Mansion House in Alibaug started doing the rounds in the media. And, guess what? It's really happening. On Friday morning, the Dhawans and Dalals were seen arriving at Alibaug and Varun and Natasha too were snapped leaving for the wedding venue for Mumbai, separately.
As per reports, the couple's wedding will be done as per Hindu rituals and it will be a full-fledged five-day affair with only close relatives and friends in attendance.
