Rishi Kapoor, son of legendary showman Raj Kapoor, entered Bollywood as a child artiste with Mera Naam Joker (1970). In his career, Rishi Kapoor did 12 films with Neetu Singh, who later became his wife, Neetu Kapoor. The two got married in January 22, 1980, and they became parents to Riddhima Kapoor Sahni (1980) and Ranbir Kapoor (1982).

Rishi Kapoor lived his life on his own terms, without any regret, except not having a closer bond with his son, Ranbir Kapoor. In his biography Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored, he said, "The distance that exists between us is similar to the one between my father and me. Ranbir and I see each other through this space but can’t feel each other. At least, I can’t. There are times when I feel I’ve missed out on being a friend to my son.”

In The Anupam Kher Show, Rishi Kapoor said that he 'fooled' the audience by playing a romantic lead for 25 years. He also said that when Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Salman Khan entered Bollywood, he thought of retiring from films. But he revamped himself and worked till 2020.

5.Rishi Kapoor's demise: The end of an era
Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2018 and went to New York City for treatment. After successful treatment for a year, he returned to India on 26 September 2019. However, he was admitted to Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital on 29 April 2020 owing to breathing difficulties. Kapoor passed away on 30 April 2020 from a recurrence of leukaemia.
