Taapsee Pannu recently gave it back to a journalist who asked her to speak in Hindi and Twitter went on a fest soon after
Taapsee Pannu has been trending all over the internet recently. The actress has a hashtag dedicated to her on Twitter called #TaapseeOnFire which is the after-effects of an incident when she gave a 'befitting reply'.
During the recently held IFFI, a person present in the audience asked her to speak in Hindi. She went on to state that most audiences there speak and understand English which is why she opted for the language. The person insisted that Taapsee should speak in Hindi, stating that she is a 'Hindi film aka Bollywood actress'. Upon hearing so, Taapsee corrected him and said that she also works in the South Indian film industry. She then went on to ask if she should start speaking in Tamil and Telugu for the same reason.
Audiences at IFFI applauded Taapsee for her comeback, but Twitter was divided in their opinion. While she received supporters even on Twitter, some others went on to troll her, the Indian media and Taapsee's PRO for the 'befitting reply'. In fact, Wikipedia was also vandalized for the same reason.

— coupdétat (@coupdtat3) November 24, 2019
Not a fan, neither do I like her these days, but her reply at the IFFI, Goa was Spot on. She works in three Industries including Hindi. So there's no need for a forced perpetuation of Hindi when someone speaks just because she works in Bollywood prominently now. #TaapseeOnFire
