Sridevi was paired opposite Jeetendra, Himmatwala was directed by K. Raghavendra, went on to become a super hit film, and also showcased Sridevi's versatility as an actress. Himmatwala was a remake of the Telugu hit Ooriki Monagadu (1981). 

Sridevi played a young and enigmatic Rajni, a shape-shifting serpent in the film. The song "Main Teri Dushman" with Amrish Puri as the dastardly snake charmer is still a fan favourite and one of the most legendary songs ever made. Nagina also starred Rishi Kapoor in the lead role. 

Lamhe starring Sridevi and Anil Kapoor in lead roles released in 1991 and remains one of the super hit movies of her directed by Yash Chopra. Sridevi bagged Filmfare Award for Best Actress with this film. Lamhe saw Sridevi play the role of both the mother and the daughter with elan. 

English Vinglish was directed by Gauri Shinde and marked Sridevi's second innings in the film industry. Sridevi pulled off a film without any hero and any item number. English Vinglish made about Rs 40 crore at the box office and was appreciated by both audiences and critics alike as they tagged veteran actress Sridevi as the "Meryl Streep of India and the female Rajinikanth in India". 

Mr India was a superhit right off the bat reportedly made approximately Rs 5 crore at the box office. Sridevi played the role of a journalist in the film. Mr. India, that had Anil Kapoor as the lead actor, saw Sridevi in a sensuous avatar in the superhit song which is still widely remembered by his fans titled "Kate Nahi Kat-Te Yeh Din Yeh Raat".
