Sonu Sood's homes, offices 'surveyed' by I-T Department - check out actor-philanthropist's profile

Sonu Sood shot into prominence last year for arranging free flights to enable stranded migrants to reach their homes during the nationwide lockdown.

On Wednesday, the Income Tax Department 'surveyed' the Mumbai offices and home in the suburbs belonging to Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, according to a report in IANS. Teams of IT sleuths began the operations in the morning, though the reason behind the action is not immediately known. Earlier, Sonu Sood also had a scrap with the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for allegedly converting his six-story house in Juhu into an illegal boarding.

Ever since then, he has been in the news for the humanitarian work that included him running pillar to post to arrange oxygen cylinders, hospital beds, medication and more for the citizens across the nation. The 'Dabangg' turned messiah for the masses and continues to help citizens in distress and has since launched several initiatives for the welfare of the citizens. 

Recently, he was announced as the brand ambassador of the Delhi Governments' 'Desh Ke Mentors' initiative.

Born on July 30, 1973, Sonu Sood is an alumnus of Sacred Heart School, Moga. He completed his graduation from Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE), Nagpur. 

Sonu Sood began his acting career in 1999. He debuted in acting with the Tamil language films with Kallazhagar and Nenjinile. He then also did a Telugu film titled Hands Up! in 2000. He then made his Hindi film debut with Shaheed-E-Azam, as Bhagat Singh in 2002. However, he earned recognition as Abhishek Bachchan's brother in Mani Ratnam's Yuva in 2004. He made his Tollywood debut in 2005 with the film Super. Sonu received recognition for his work across film industries and has since done several films in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada. His last appearance in a Hindi film was in 'Simmba' in 2018. However, his last onscreen appearance has been in the Telugu film 'Alludu Adhurs'. 

In the year 2021, Sonu Sood appeared in two music videos namely 'Pagal Nahi Hona' in Punjabi and 'Saath Kya Nibhaoge' (Hindi), the latter being directed by Farah Khan. 

During the first nationwide lockdown imposed in 2020 in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Sonu Sood rose to prominence when he helped needy and helpless migrant workers reach their homes safely. Besides that, Sonu Sood, via his Twitter handle, helped thousands across the nation by arranging injections, hospital beds, medical supplies to citizens across the country. He donated face shields to the Mumbai POlice and also helped industry workers in time of need during the pandemic. When the second wave hit India, Sonu continued to help citizens by arranging oxygen cylinders and going to the extent of setting up the first oxygen plant in Nellore. He got medication delivered to people's homes and turned messiah for those in distress amid the pandemic. Sonu Sood continues to help those in need and has set up several initiatives to accomplish the task. 

Not just with the COVID relief work, Sonu Sood helped the citizens get employment via his Uprise India Initiative and set up an NGO by the name Sood Charity Foundation through which he helps people of all stature. With a vision to serve humanity, Sonu Sood set up the foundation that aims to raise awareness and provide care for those in need. Sonu Sood also came up with a scholarship program called Prof. Saroj Sood scholarships to support IAS aspirants to fulfil their dreams. Under the program, scholarships will be available to students for online and on-campus courses. He sent relief packages to people who got stuck in the interior regions without basic necessities during the recent Maharastra floods. He also started the 'Sanjeevani - A Shot of Life', an initiative to encourage people to get vaccinated against the novel coronavirus and for raising awareness about the inoculation drive in the country. He also launched the 'Overseas Employment App' to help migrant labourers explore employment opportunities in various sectors across the country. Besides this, Sonu has helped innumerable people who reach out to him with various personal requests.
