1.Ranveer Singh competing with Akshay Kumar, Rajinikanth, Tiger Shroff, Ranbir Kapoor and himself
As per Box Office India, 'Simmba' registered an average occupancy of up to 35% in the morning shows. Akshay Kumar-Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’, Tiger Shroff's 'Baaghi 2', Ranbir Kapoor's 'Sanju' and Ranveer’s own previous blockbuster ‘Padmaavat’ recorded better occupancies on Friday than Simmba's masala-entertainer 'Simmba'. 'Baaghi 2' had opened to 57.5% occupancy in the morning shows while 'Sanju' began with 55% occupancy. ‘2.0’ on the other hand comes closest since it opened to 37.5% occupancy.
2.Rohit Shetty, Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar coming together has superhit written on it, if it entertains one and all
'Simmba' showcases the story of a police officer Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba, who is inspired by Bajirao Singham. Apart from Ajay Devgn in a cameo appearance, the movie stars Sara Ali Khan, Sonu Sood and Siddharth Jadhav in pivotal roles. It also has a cameo by another superstar who has already played a police officer previously.
Considering the film is made in 125 crores and it already has good word-of-mouth from most, Rohit Shetty should not have much problem in recovering the money in the first week, especially since ‘Zero’ hasn’t worked like expected.
"A solid, well-packaged entertainer with a powerful message... Rohit Shetty gets it right yet again... And so does Ranveer, who is outstanding... Whistles, claps, laughter assured... Expect a STORM at the BO...," tweeted film business analyst Taran Adarsh.
3.Will ‘Simmba’ do as much as business as ‘Padmaavat’?
‘Zero’ hasn’t even entered the 100-crore-club in India, despite having a whole week (include Christmas week) to itself. Meanwhile Ranveer Singh’s last release ‘Padmaavat’ made Rs. 262.63 crore business. Will ‘Simmba’s total collection also come close to ‘Padmaavat’s collections?
4.'Simmba' will witness a pump in footfall on Monday
The actual Day 1 figures are awaited but considering the film has released on a usual Friday, it's fate will get a boost with positive word-of-mouth. It may however see a pump in footfall on Monday because of the New Year holiday.
5.Will ‘Simmba’ fall heavy on ‘Zero’?
While 'Simmba' may not be able to overtake Padmaavat's opening collection of Rs 18 crore, it is expected to earn in the range of Rs 8-10 crore on Day 1 (Friday).
Aanand L Rai's 'Zero' starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma released the previous weekend, but it doesn’t appear that the film will be able to survive at the Box Office any longer.
It remains to be seen whether Shah Rukh Khan will still be able to sustain post the 6-minute edit in ‘Zero’ second half, and if ‘Simmba’ can break the records set by Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Padmaavat’, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
