SCOOPS: Preity Zinta almost made Aamir Khan leave the sets of their film, Kriti Sanon learns Marathi for Panipat

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s fairytale romance culminated into marriage earlier this week. The lovebirds tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Lake Como, Italy. While the couple got married on Wednesday, they shared two lovely images from their wedding only on Thursday evening.

Right after the pictures went live, fans and industry insiders went berserk. Several Bollywood celebrities took to social media to wish the duo on the new phase of their lives. Among them were two of DP’s contemporaries — Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra. Although there have been several rumours of a possible conflict between Dippy and these two heroines, it was lovely to see the actresses stand together. While Priyanka wrote “insanely beautiful” on the photograph, Kat also congratulated both, Deepika and Ranveer. Adorbs!

Kriti Sanon, who is currently shooting for Housefull 4 with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Bobby Deol in Mumbai, has also begun prep for her next, Panipat. The actress is required to speak some Marathi for her part as a Maratha queen in the period action drama, which stars Arjun Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt.  

With the Ashutosh Gowariker directorial beginning soon, she wants to be ready before she faces the camera for it. So every day after packing up the HF4 shoot, Kriti takes Marathi lessons. She enthuses, “There is a certain way that my character speaks in Panipat. There is a strong Marathi flavour and since I’m born and brought up in Delhi, it’s new for me. And since there is not much time between the schedules of Housefull 4 and Panipat, so I have already started my lessons.”

Ayushmann Khurrana recently shot for an episode of Koffee With Karan with Vicky Kaushal. But did you know he considers the Manmarziyaan actor as his competitor! Not just him, Ayushmann thinks even Ranbir Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao, with whom he shared screen space in Bareilly Ki Barfi are competition. He says, “You can look at it in two ways — either as competitors or as the ones who inspire me. I loved Ranbir in i! and Tamasha. He was brilliant in Sanju also. Rajkummar was great in Shahid and even Omerta, which didn’t do well but I was blown away by his performance. Vicky was the same guy who was a Gujarati in Sanju and a Punjabi in Manmarziyaan. You hardly see that happen. I get inspired by these actors.” Ask him whom would he like to work with and he says it could be either of them, but it depends on the script and what character he gets to portray.

Preity G Zinta recently visited the sets of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, where she shared her memories from the shoot of Dil Chahta Hai in Australia. It happened when judge Shekhar Ravjiani asked the actress to hum a song after the much-lauded rendition of Ajj Din Chadeyaan by contestant Sonu Gill. However, Preity stated, “You can get me to do anything under the sun, but singing is one thing that I’m never able to get right.” Recalling how she couldn’t lip sync the song Jaane Kyun Log Pyaar Karte Hain during the shoot, she said, “I was so bad at it that my director Farhan Akhtar got miffed and Aamir Khan almost left the sets.”

Rasika Dugal is all set to work with her husband Mukul Chadda in a film tentatively titled Fairy Folk. What’s unusual about this film is its format, which is completely improvised. It means that though the director has an idea of the story, all the scenes, dialogues etc are mounted on the sets while the shoot is on. Hollywood’s American Hustle and Blue Valentine were based on this format.

Fairy Folk is touted to be India’s first improvised film. Rasika says, “Mukul and I have done a few ads together but this will be our first feature film with each other. We share a great rapport on the sets and are on the same page on work-related matters.” The film is about a couple living in Mumbai whose life is overturned by a series of events.
