Unlike the leading ladies of the ’80s and ’90s, Gen-Now actresses are friendly, cordial and even respectful of their contemporaries. When Janhvi Kapoor’s debut film Dhadak was releasing, Sara Ali Khan called her up and congratulated her on her big launch. Everyone knows the two Karan Johar protégés are good friends. So, recently, when the trailer of Kedarnath was unveiled, Janhvi returned the favour by wishing Sara. Janhvi adds, “I am very excited for Sara’s film, as a friend and an audience member. I have watched the trailer and the song (Sweetheart). I love her in the promos and the story also seems interesting, so I look forward to watching Kedarnath.” Ask her if there are any tips she would like to give her BFF, and Janhvi shies away. “Sara doesn’t need my tips. She’s very good.” How sweet!

Shraddha Kapoor, who was suffering from dengue and was advised a month’s rest, has now resumed work. She recently began shooting for Nitesh Tiwari’s next directorial, Chhichhore, which is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. A source close to the actress says, “It’s barely a week since Shraddha started shooting for the film in Mumbai. Sajid surprised her and went to her house to check on her. The ace producer is also making sure that she is been looked after, and advised her not to take any stress. They interacted for quite some time. Nitesh has also ensured that she is given adequate breaks between her shots.” Naturally, the Stree actress was very touched by the concern shown by her movie’s makers.

The Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma-starrer Sui Dhaaga: Made In India seems to have made an impact at the grassroots level. The Sharat Katariya directorial is being screened in a dozen small towns of India to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship in the people there.

The screenings are being organised in make-shift tents where the movie will be projected to audiences gathered for their evening entertainment.

Approximately 200-300 people are expected to attend each screening. While in Madhya Pradesh, Sui Dhaaga will be shown in places like Khandwa, Sidhi, Katni, Vidhisha and Rajgarh. In Rajasthan the screenings will be held in Kota, Chittorgarh, Sikar, Banswara and Pali.

Reiterating that the impact was evident when the film released, our source says, “The story struck an emotional chord in the hearts of audiences across the country and critics, too, gave two thumbs up to this gem of a movie. Mauji (Varun) and Mamta (Anushka)’s love story and their search for dignity as well as respect through self-reliance has moved cinegoers. And seeing the reactions of the people, we wanted to take the film to as many people in India as possible. We also hope Sui Dhaaga’s message will inspire the people of these small towns to use their talents and turn entrepreneurs.”
