Earlier this month, Hrithik Roshan shared the unfortunate news of his celebrated filmmaker-father Rakesh Roshan being diagnosed with throat cancer. The surgery went off well and Roshan Sr was discharged from a South Mumbai hospital within a few days. Of course, the mood at the Roshan home was sombre during that period and Hrithik had a rather quiet birthday on January 10, when he turned 45. As a source associated with the family recalls, “Duggu took a break from his shoot and other commitments as he wanted to be by his father’s side. He is relieved that the surgery went off well.  And he even responded personally to all the people in the industry who inquired after Rakeshji’s health.” Now that the Krissh maker is recuperating, his superstar son has resumed work. “Hrithik has begun shooting for the second schedule of Siddharth Anand’s untitled action thriller, which also co-stars Tiger Shroff,” adds our source.

The actor, who was last seen in Kaabil, (January 2017), will play a maths professor in Super 30, which releases on July 26.

Aayush Sharma, who debuted with LoveYatri last year, will be seen in yet another romantic saga. After Hrs has learnt that he has signed Rajkumar Santoshi’s next film. A source says, “The filmmaker had approached Aayush for a movie sometime back. Once the script was finalised, the latter was given a narration, following which he gave his nod to the project.” An official announcement will be made soon. The source adds, “It’s a love story replete with comedy and action.”

The actor will begin work on it after he finishes his second project, the Hindi remake of the 2018 Marathi movie Mulshi Pattern. Another source tells us, “Aayush will sport a new look for his second film. He has been on a red meat diet as he has to gain around 16 kilos for the part. He has already put on over 10 kilos and is working out. He is also learning Marathi as the story is set in rural Maharashtra.”

He wraps up Mulshi Pattern around April, post which he will start Santoshi’s next.

Apart from Kareena, another actress whose name has been doing the rounds with regards to the upcoming parliamentary elections is Madhuri Dixit-Nene. When the Total Dhamaal actress was asked about it, she made a face and completely disregarded this piece of news. “Please tell me first, who is your source,” she said, laughing at the question. If her reaction is any indication, it looks like even the Dhak Dhak girl isn’t ready for politics yet.

On Monday, Karan Johar announced the release date of Good News starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani as September 6. The film was initially slated to release in July, but KJo took to social media to share the date of his Raj Mehta directorial in September.

Interestingly, Anurag Basu’s next directorial, a dark comic anthology, which stars Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Aditya Roy Kapur, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra will also hit theatres on the same date as Good News. Besides this, Akshay’s Mission Mangal will also have a face-off with the John Abraham-starrer Batla House during the August 15 weekend. However, clashes are nothing new for Akshay, whose Gold released on the same day as Satyameva Jayate last Independence Day and yet collected over Rs 100 crores at the box office.

Incidentally, Rajkummar’s Made In China, co-starring Mouni Roy, was initially scheduled to release during the August 15 weekend. But, the movie’s makers deferred it to August 30. But, with Anurag’s directorial coming on September 6, the Stree actor will have a release along with another Akshay starrer.
