Scoops: Athiya Shetty to play a Punjabi in 'Motichoor Chaknachoor', Anushka Sharma wishes fans Happy Diwali

Athiya Shetty was seen as a Punjabi in her last project Mubarakan (2017),  but it was possibly the quietest character in the entire ensemble. In her third film outing, Suniel Shetty’s beti will essay the role of a North Indian character again, albeit a loud one this time. Says a source, “Athiya has hired a tutor to work on her dialect for Motichoor Chaknachoor. 

During the shots, she was asked to shout and to work on her pitch as well.” Debomitra Ghosh, the movie’s director, says, “Athiya underwent training in the language for a few weeks before we started filming. The dialogue writer took regular dialect with her. But she picked up fast and rehearsed the lines diligently. Now, she speaks the language fluently. However, her expressions came as a surprise to me. She is flawless on screen and shares a good chemistry with Nawazuddin (Siddiqui).”

Almost every production house takes a small break right before Diwali and resumes work once the festivities are over. But Sanjay Dutt has decided to do it differently this year. The actor, who couldn’t throw a party at home this year, will have a working Diwali.

In fact, the entire team of his next production venture Prassthanam, including Dutt’s leading lady Manisha Koirala will also be busy shooting for the film. Says a source, “The team will celebrate the festival of lights together. This schedule has Manisha extensively shooting for her portions along with Chunky Panday. To keep the festivities alive, the makers have planned a special Diwali lunch and a small puja with the team.” 

Kapil Sharma, who is set to tie the knot with Ginni Chatrath next month, will celebrate Diwali with his family and fiancee in Amritsar. The stand-up comedian looks forward to it as it will involve “delicious food” made by his mother. “It will be a noise-free Diwali as my pets get scared of firecrackers. I will be playing cards with close friends and family members. Also, this year is extremely special as Ginni will visit my home in Amritsar to celebrate the festival with my extended family,” he says. 

Anushka brought the Indian saree in vogue by donning a red Banarasi while tying the knot with cricketer Virat Kohli last year. Since then, the actress has been popularising the whole nine yards by sporting it at public events and lending a super chic, contemporary touch to the traditional Indian fashion outfit.
