Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty are teaming up for the first time. Said to be another cop franchise from the Singham and Simmba director, the new film, titled Sooryavanshi, will feature Akki as an ATS (Anti Terrorist Squad) officer. Glimpses of his character have already been seen in the end credits of the Ranveer Singh-starrer and the blockbuster director also announced that the action drama will release later this year.

According to a source, “Akshay has to shoot for two films — Mission Mangal and Good News. Once he wraps them up, he’ll begin filming his supercop action-drama, some time this April. It’s a complete start-to-finish schedule.” Both Rohit and Akshay are known to finish their projects in record time. So, it won’t be surprising if their maiden collaboration is also ready in time for a release in the last quarter of this year.

Kangana Ranaut is leaving no stone unturned for her upcoming film, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, which is backed by Zee Studios and releases on January 25. While the teaser and trailer of the biopic on Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi have garnered tremendous response from the industry trade and cinegoers alike, the actress is equally excited about taking it to the audiences down South as well. Kangana, who took over the directorial reins of the historical drama after its
original helmer Krish left to fulfill his prior film commitments down South, will launch the trailers of the Telugu and Tamil versions today.

Along with producer Kamal Jain and writer KV Vijayendra Prasad, the actress will first be unveiling the Telugu trailer in Hyderabad this morning. In the afternoon, they will head to Chennai to launch the Tamil version’s trailer. Kangana, who has acted in a Telugu and a Tamil film in the initial years of her career, is also expected to speak a few lines in the two languages with the local media as well as her fans in Hyderabad and Chennai.

Abhishek Bachchan will soon make his digital debut in the second season of Breathe. The actor has already kickstarted shoot for the same, where he will be seen opposite Saiyami Kher. When we spoke to AB Junior and asked if he is a binge watcher, he replied in the positive. “I have a varied selection that I enjoy and I watch several at a time.” That makes us wonder if he would be willing to produce one as well. But the Manmarziyaan actor said, “Sure, but not right now.” Guess production work has to wait for a bit as Abhishek has been on a film signing spree.

One of the most anticipated films of 2019, RSVP’s Uri: The Surgical Strike has created excitement among movie buffs as they will get an opportunity to witness on screen a landmark event in the history of the Indian army. The war drama is based on the 2016 surgical strikes that were initiated by our soldiers in retaliation to the terrorist attack by Pakistanis in which 19 of our jawans were killed. The Aditya Dhar directorial, which opens in cinemas on January 11, traces the men in uniform’s heroic triumph against the militant bases of Pakistan and draws parallels with the international hit Zero Dark Thirty (2012).

Just like our soldiers entered the land of the enemies to wipe away the terrorists, a similarly-fashioned attack was witnessed in 2011 as US army officials infiltrated Osama Bin Laden’s territory and killed him. Zero Dark Thirty received appreciation from across the globe for its fierce and authentic portrayal of real-life events.

The promos of the Vicky Kaushal-starrer showcase the dangerous operation and the story of the night that shook the entire nation. The action-packed film boasts of an ensemble cast including Mohit Raina, Paresh Rawal, Yami Gautam and Kirti Kulhari.
