On Friday, Ajay Devgn wrapped up the shooting of his ambitious production venture, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The historical action drama, based on Tanaji Malusare, the commander of Shivaji Maharaj’s army, is slated to release on January 10 next year. “There are a lot of VFX-laden scenes in Tanhaji, and Ajay has instructed his team to not compromise in ensuring that the final result is authentic and at par with international movies,” says our source, adding, “Moreover, since they’ll also be releasing the film, which stars Kajol as Tanaji’s wife and Saif Ali Khan as the antagonist Udaybhan Rathod, in 3D, they’re leaving nothing to chance.”

While the actor is on an interim break, he will begin shooting Bhuj: The Pride Of India on July 10 in Hyderabad’s Ramoji Rao Filmcity. Work on the set is underway for the movie set during 1971: Indo-Pak War. Ajay plays IAF wing commander Vijay Karnik who was in charge of the Bhuj airbase during the War and led the team that reconstructed the airstrip after heavy bombing from Pakistan. Post this period war drama, the two-time National Award-winning actor will essay yet another real-life personality. In the Amit Sharma (Badhaai Ho) directorial, Ajay plays football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, under whose guidance and coaching, India reached the semi-finals of the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne and clinched the gold at the 1962 Asian Games. With these three films, Ajay seems to be on a hat-trick of real-life characters and events.

For Punjabi music artist Millind Gaba, his recent song Zindagi Di Paudi, is special in more ways that one. While he’s pleased that the track, also featuring Jannat Zubair Rahmani, has resonated with listeners, what makes it memorable for him is that it gave him an opportunity to drive a vintage motorcycle from the World War I era.

It is said that only two such bikes exist in the world presently and that’s what makes the Nazar Lag Jayegi and She Don’t Know singer’s experience even more memorable. Milind, who rendered the title track of Welcome Back with Mika Singh and is also singing for Sooraj Pancholi-starrer Satellite Shankar, says, “Riding the vintage motorcycle was difficult as it was very heavy. Moreover, Jannat, too, was sitting beside me. So, I was even more cautious riding it. At the end of it, I’m glad I managed it fine and we got good shots for the video.”
