The actress received stellar reviews from fans as well as industry colleagues about her performance in the highly-anticipated film's teaser. After the release, Alia Bhatt joined Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his birthday bash and posed with him for the paparazzi.

Alia Bhatt joined Sanjay Leela Bhansali at his residence in the evening to take part in his birthday celebrations and greeted the paparazzi in her onscreen style. As Gangubai is seen dressed mostly in white-coloured sarees, Alia too opted for a white, one-shoulder top and trousers.

The one-minute-thirty-second-long teaser for 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' was released on the occasion of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's birthday. The teaser showed Alia in a never-seen-before avatar. The teaser opens with a dialogue that says, "They say...nights in Kamathipura are always moonlit because Gangu lives there!"
