Meet actor who had 16 flops, was insulted by producer, then he become superstar, has net worth of Rs 2700 crore

Akshay Kumar alias Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia made his Bollywood debut with Saugandh. The movie was released in cinemas on January 25, 1991, and today it marks his 34 years in Bollywood. 

Akshay Kumar found success with Abbas-Mustan's Khiladi, but a few years later he gave 16 consecutive flops in the late 1990s. 

In an interview, producer Suneel Darshan revealed that when Akshay was going through a bad phase in the late 90s, he was insulted by another producer. Sunil said, "Akshay came to me and he almost had tears in his eyes. He told me that he had asked another producer why they hadn’t put up a banner for his film and they told him ‘tumhari aukkaat nahi hai ki tumhari film ka banner lagaya jaaye.’ I got nervous looking at his nervous face. And then, I got the biggest banner in Juhu with just Akshay’s face on it.” 

In the same phase, Akshay's films were halted. At that time, Suneel put faith in him and gave him Dhadkan, which proved to be a blockbuster. With the success of Hera Pheri, Akshay bounced back. 

In the past few years, Akshay again suffered major failures at the box office, including Samrat Prithviraj and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. However, he beat failure again with his latest release Sky Force. The aerial actioner took the opening of Rs 15 crores, and with the positive word of mouth, the film will certainly end the dull phase of Akshay Kumar. 

Currently, Akshay Kumar is among the highest-paid Bollywood actors, and he has cemented his position again with Sky Force. As per the media reports, in 2024, Akshay Kumar had a net worth of Rs 2700 crores.
