The movie, named 'Thalaivi' (translated: superstar), has been helmed by AL Vijay and release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The first look of Kangana Ranaut from the film was unveiled a day back with a poster and a teaser.

The poster, especially, received a lot of backlash from audiences over the bad prosthetics. The teaser was next in line, and Netizens being their mean self, found yet another excuse to troll Kangana and Thalaivi. Some others were genuinely concerned that Kangana might end up tarnishing Jayalalithaa's image and were upset that any other actor was not asked to play the role.

While Jayalalithaa herself wanted Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the role, fans even believed that Kamal Haasan would be a better fit for Thalaivi.

Netizens feel Kamal Haasan was the better choice for Thalaivi. The fans are also upset since Chachi 420 makeup has been copied.

A user even compared Chota Bheem's character Chutki's look with 'Thalaivi' Kangana's. Comparisons were even made with Motu and Patlu.

A Twitterati felt Kangana was potato on angry mode. Or potato got in angry mode after seeing 'Thalaivi' Kangana?

Expectation vs reality memes between Jayalalithaa and Kangana were at an all-time high.

Jayalalithaa's face was photoshopped in an already popular meme.

A user felt the poster was a wax statue. Another one called it demoralising others who worked hard for their roles.

Fans were upset that despite Jayalalithaa's own recommendation, Thalaivi makers did not pick Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the role.

Other names like Vidya Balan and Nithya Menon were also suggested.

Fans even started comparing Kangana's look to Deepika Padukone's Chapaak look, where she plays acid-attack survivor Malti.

A Netizen shared Jayalaitha's reaction after seeing Thalaivi teaser, and it is hilarious!

'Monjolika' Vidya Balan was also added to the list of biopics on great leaders.
