Director Ashutosh Gowariker goes down the memory lane as his period drama Jodhaa Akbar clocks 10 years...

It's been 10 years since the release of Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer period drama Jodhaa Akbar. The director Ashutosh Gowariker took to his Twitter account to share some images of the behind the scenes memories on the set of the film. He also shared a poster of the film and wrote alongside, "It’s truly an exhilarating feeling that ‘Jodhaa Akbar‘ is still appealing to audiences today. Not only in India but internationally too! And I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for giving it so much love. Sharing with you an unreleased poster! Ten years of ‘Jodhaa Akbar’."

The historical romance revolved around the story of a Rajput princess who's obligated to marry a Mughal emperor for the well being of her state. The princess chooses to do so but on her own terms and conditions. The emperor eventually wins her over with his love and affection. 

Jodhaa Akbar reunited the hit pair of Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on the silver screens after 2 years. They previously appeared together in Dhoom 2. While Aish played the Rajputa queen Jodha, Hrithik essayed the Mughal emperor Akbar. Their romance is one of the highlights of the film. The film managed to rake in a total of Rs 112 crore worldwide and as declared a hit.

The film directed by Ashutosh Gowariker was complemented by an amazing music album by music maestro A R Rahman. Some of the tracks from the film still top the playlists of many fans. Jashn-E-Bahara, In Lamhon Ke Daaman Mein, Khwaja Mere Khwaja are some of the songs which topped the charts....

There were protests around the release of the film as some members of the Rajput commuty objected to the portrayal of the queen. They alleged that the portrayal of ethnic Rajput people in the film was misleading. Due to the protests, Jodhaa Akbar was initially banned in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttarakhand post which the makers moved the Supreme Court and challenged it. The ban was later lifted in UP, Haryana and Uttarakhand post the SC orders.

Ashutosh Gowariker shared two stills from the sets of the film on his Twitter account this morning. In the still, Hrithik can be seen prepping up for his shot. Also seen in the image are Amitabh Bachchan, who did the narration for the film and the director himself.

This is the second image shared by the director on the occasion of the completion of 10 years of Jodhaa Akbar. Abhishek Bachchan and Sussane Khan can be seen joining Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan on the sets of the film. (All images via Twitter)
