Sunny Deol, son of veteran actor Dharmendra, went on to build a film legacy with some successful roles throughout the 90s and early 2000s. The actor, who turned 63-year-old today, has been acclaimed through awards like two National Awards and two film awards for his contribution to cinema.

Apart from being one of the most successful stars in the 80s and 90s, Sunny Deol also explored other aspects of the film industry. He made his debut with producing a film and eventually, even went on to direct another movie - Dillagi.

Years later, apart from being one of the most recognized Indian actors, Sunny Deol followed his father Dharmendra's footsteps and entered politics. The actor contested elections under Bharatiya Janta Party's seat and even became the MP from Gurdaspur (Lok Sabha constituency) of Punjab State.

Already an actor, Sunny Deol turned a producer with his film 'Ghayal' which released in 1990 and established his identity as Ajay Mehra.

Sunny Deol then turned a director for 'Dillagi', which also starred his brother Bobby Doel and father Dharmendra. The trio worked together numerous times since.

Gadar: Ek Prem Katha took Sunny Deol to new heights. He was synonymous with 'dhai kilo ka haath' since the film's 'handpump' scene.

Sunny Deol then had his biggest comebacks with Bobby and Dharmendra, first with 'Apne' and later with the hit franchise 'Yamla Pagla Deewana'.

More recently, Sunny Deol has joined politics and is the current member of the parliament from Gurdaspur (Lok Sabha constituency) of Punjab State.
