To the Time of India she said, "I remember being 18 and taking up a gym membership… it was considered kinda cool to work out at a gym...But when I got on the treadmill, I couldn't run for more than 30 seconds! I was huffing and puffing! That's when I decided to lose weight. Not because I wanted to be an actor, but because I knew it was needed. And I was also proud of myself. But people were still talking about how much I weighed and how I looked!"

Sonakshi Sinha shed over 30 kilos before making her debut opposite supetsatar Salman Khan in the 2010 film 'Dabangg'. A few reasons why Sonakshi never thought of shedding those extra kilos before entering films was because she hated exercising and loved to gorge on junk food. She had once said in an interview, "It was not easy at all for somebody like me. I am the kind of person who hates the gym. I am allergic to the gym. I want to run away from it. But I think once I put my mind to something, I go out and achieve it, and I guess I did that."
4.Sonakshi Sinha: Salman Khan inspired actress to lose weight

In several of her interviews, Sonakshi has acknowledged the fact that it was superstar Salman Khan who motivated her to lose weight. In one such interview, the actor had stated, "He saw potential in me and egged me on to lose weight. I would say his contribution was the highest as I started taking it seriously only after he told me to." Sonakshi further said, "If it hadn't come from within, I wouldn’t have done it."

Sonakshi Sinha mixes all forms of exercises from yoga, pilates to sweating it out at the gym to keep her workouts interesting. "I start most of my mornings with cardio on an empty stomach. My cardio routine is the Stairmaster for 30 minutes and brisk walking for about 20-25 minutes after," Sonakshi had told Vogue India. She also revealed that she took to pilates and found that it really suited her. Talking about her diet plan, Sonakshi Sinha had revealed that she never follows a diet. In fact, she had said that she eats food at regular intervals but in less quantities to boost metabolism. She had said, "Food is my first love. I never followed a diet that makes me cranky and unhappy. I believe I work too hard to deprive myself of the one thing I love the most- food! I eat regular food, but in lesser quantities than before. Eating small meals every 2 hours helps in keeping up the metabolism all day. I even binge sometimes. Who's gonna stop me when there's a brownie right in front of my eyes? But if I do, an extra 20 minutes on the treadmill is a must." In an interview to Vogue, she had even revealed her go-to snack. She had said, "Almonds, walnuts or bananas are my go-to snacks if I get hungry between meals."
Additionally, she had shared that she had stopped eating bread completely. "I've stopped eating bread completely unless it's in the form of a pizza, which is my go-to cheat meal. I usually finish my carb intake by lunch, and for dinner it's mainly protein. Fried foods, sugar are avoidable. Luckily, I don't have much of a sweet tooth," she had said in the 2018 interview.
7.Sonakshi Sinha: Secret to self-love

"Eventually, I told myself that I wouldn't let them bring me down because they had no idea what I had been through, how hard I had worked to get here. And, in the end, it really didn't matter what they thought. They were not the ones in a big-ticket Bollywood film, I was," Sonakshi said while talking about her secret to self-love in an old interview with the Times of India.
