Filmmakers have a reputation for spending a lot of money on their projects. While some films recoup every penny spent on them, others have a less fortunate outcome. 'Tanu Weds Manu,' starring Kangana Ranaut and Madhavan, was made on a Rs 15 crore budget. In its first week of release, the film grossed Rs 10 crore. The romance drama directed by Anand L Rai became an instant smash, and the film's satellite rights were sold for Rs 7.5 crore.

Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam made their acting debuts in this film. As a producer, John Abraham. Shoojit Sircar directed the film, which was produced by John Abraham. The film, which tackled a sensitive topic like sperm donation, was a smash hit. The film, which was made on a shoestring budget of Rs 5 crore, went on to gross Rs 65 crore.

'Kahaani,' directed by Sujoy Gosh, stars Vidya Balan in the lead role, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Parambrata Chatterjee in supporting roles. ‘No One Killed Jessica’ starring Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan was made on a budget of Rs 9 crores and it went on to gross around Rs 104 crore.
