With new actors making their debuts in the Hindi film industry every day including star kids like Ananya Panday, Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, it wouldn't be wrong to say that the entertainment industry in India has enough space and opportunities to accommodate and provide a platform to everyone.

However, it also would be wrong to say that there were some actors who came into the movie-making scene and left without making a mark.

Here's a list of some actress of the 2000s who did a few films and then receded into the background only to be forgotten.

Take a look:

1. Antara Mali

Antara Mail became the talk of the town with her performances in films such as 'Company' and 'Road' in 2002. However, we did not get to see much of her after that. She got married in 2009, lives in Mumbai with her family and has been a private person since.

She reportedly split with Armaan Kohli in 2014, and was last reported to be living a single life in Mumbai. Her film ‘Neal N Nikki' tanked at the box office and hence began the case of Tanishaa's disappearance from Hindi cinema.

3. Sneha Ullal

She made headlines the new Aishwarya look-alike in town when she debuted in Salman Khan starrer 'Lucky - No Time For Love' in 2005. Now a big name in the south, Sneha hasn't been seen much in Bollywood except for a few small projects here and there.

4. Kim Sharma

After her big-budget debut in Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan starred Mohabbatein in 2000, Kim Sharma featured in some mediocre movies that sank without a trace. The only other time Kim was in the news was for her alleged affair with - now happily married - cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

5. Ameesha Patel

Ameesha Patel shot to overnight fame after her sensational debut in 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai' (2000) opposite Hrithik Roshan. She was declared the most promising newcomer of the 2000s, however, a series of flops destroyed her career in films. Her last film, 'Shortcut Romeo', was also tanked at the box office.

6. Koena Mitra

After this, she was seen in the Fardeen Khan starrer 'Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena' (2005) and her last Hindi film was 'Apna Sapna Money Money'. With one flop after another, just like her films, Koena's career too was lost in without making a mark.

7. Perizaad Zorabian

Perizaad Zorabian who made her on-screen debut with Nagesh Kukunoor's 'Bollywood Calling' (2001) and went on to star in 'Joggers' Park' (2003) and 'Morning Raga' (2004), was known for her unconventional film choices. Despite success in offbeat films, she was last seen in 'Y.M.I. Yeh Mera India (2009)' and after that hasn't been seen on the silver screen. She married construction tycoon Boman Rustom Irani in 2006 and owns a restaurant in Mumbai.

8. Gayatri Joshi

Like Kim  Sharma and Preeti Jhangiani, Silpa Shetty's sister Shamita Shetty too made her Bollywood debut in 'Mohabbatein', however, after that one multi-starrer hit film, nothing worked in her favour. Shamita tried to revive her career with 'Zeher' (2005) and 'Cash' (2007) but the two films bit the dust and failed to leave a mark.

11. Preeti Jhangiani

She made her debut with Fardeen Khan in 'Kitne Door Kitne Paas' in 2002, but barely got noticed. A series of flops followed, and the only time Amrita made some news was for her item number "Dilli Ki Sardi". With B-grade films and slapstick fares in her resume, Amrita married Shakeel Ladak, a businessman from the construction industry in 2009 and quit films due to personal reasons.

13. Bhumika Chawla

Bhumika Chawla was a big star down South when she made her smash hit debut in Bollywood opposite Salman Khan in 'Tere Naam' in 2003, and soon after, she made a move to southern cinema permanently. Her occasional appearances in films like 'Run' and 'Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa' did not help her make a career in the Hindi film industry and so she stuck to Telugu cinema.

14. Udita Goswami

16. Rimi Sen

Rimi Sen, who is all set to make a comeback in films, made a noticeable debut with 'Hungama' in 2003. She starred in other average and hit films like 'Baghban' (2003), 'Dhoom' (2004), 'Deewane Hue Pagal' (2005) and 'Golmaal: Fun Unlimited' (2006). She was also seen in the reality show Bigg Boss 9. But her decision to quit comedy genre films and do something 'serious' and 'meaningful' took her nowhere as an actor. Last seen in 'Shagird' and 'Johnny Gaddar', Sen is desirous of reappearing on-screen but has not managed to remake her acting career yet.
