'Chaand Taare Todh Laoon': Shah Rukh Khan-Akshay Kumar congratulate ISRO after Chandrayaan 2 launch
Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar were among the few celebrities to congratulate ISRO for Chandrayaan 2 and the efforts that went behind it
After initial technical glitch on July 15, Chandrayaan-2 mission to the Moon, India's second indigenous was successfully launched at 2.43 pm on Monday. The launch took place from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
ISRO chief K Sivan confirmed the successful launch, also adding that according to the mission, Baahubali, which is the name of the spacecraft, would explore South Pole. "I am extremely happy to announce that the GSLV MkIII-M1 successfully injected Chandrayaan 2 spacecraft into the Earth's orbit. It is the beginning of a historic journey of India towards the moon and to land at a place near the South Pole to carry out scientific experiments and explore the unexplored," he said.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other politicians congratulated the team for their successful efforts, Bollywood fraternity also came together to applaud them. Among the stars who congratulated the team on Twitter were Shah Rukh Khan, Mission Mangal actor Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, Karan Johar and others.
