'Bunty Aur Babli' Again! Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan's hit film sequel to go on floors soon?

As per reports in a portal, Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji starrer 'Bunty Aur Bali' sequel likely to go on floors next month in Mumbai.

One of the most loved onscreen couples in the early 2000s was Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan. They first worked together in the film Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai and from thereon, they romanced each other on the big screen in movies namely Yuva, Hum Tum, Bunty Aur Babli, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and their last outing together was Laaga Chunari Mein Daag. One of the best films of Abhishek Rani considered is Bunty Aur Babli and there's no denying in that.

Last year, in the month of August, Pinkvilla had reported that a sequel to Bunty Aur Babli is in the works in which Abhishek and Rani will be reprising the titular roles. The film also had Amitabh Bachchan in a pivotal role playing a cop who is hunting for the thieves Bunty and Babli. Now as per reports in Deccan Chronicle, the film is confirmed and is likely to go on floors next month in Mumbai.

Talking about the Bunty Aur Babli sequel going on floors, a source stated to Deccan Chronicle, "The sets will be constructed in the first week of June in Mumbai and the shoot will also begin next month."


The source also added that Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan are a part of the sequel playing the lead roles. They added, "The filmmakers have roped in the original cast and they will start shooting from the next month."

Last year, Pinkvilla had reported that Bunty Aur Babli sequel is on the cards and talking about it, a source had told them, "Bunty Aur Babli sequel has been on cards for quite some time now. But it was only recently that the things were taken forward. Aditya Chopra himself is looking into this and the pre-production work has already started. Both Rani and Abhishek are more than keen to do this project and have given their nod for it. However, it won’t be directed by Shaad. Who is helming this sequel is still not revealed. But the plot has been finalised and the shooting schedule is being planned."

When PTI asked Abhishek about the reports, he had said, "Soon after the release of the film in 2005, Aditya Chopra, the producer of the film, was very keen that we do a sequel but he did not have a story at that point of time. Would he want to make a sequel? At that point of time, he did. If Adi finds a story that is worthy and he wants us to do it, he will let us know. As of now, I can't say anything."

It was Shaad Ali, who had directed Bunty Aur Babli, but as per Pinkvilla's 2018 reports, the filmmaker might not return to helm the sequel.
