Bollywood celebrities share their condolences on the sad demise of Atal Bihari Bajpayee...

India's former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee left for heavenly abode on August  16, 2018, just a day after the country celebrated 72 years of Independence. The 93-year-old BJP leader breathed his last at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital where he was admitted June 11 with a variety of ailments, at 05:05 pm on Thursday.

A statement from AIIMS read, "It is with profound grief that we inform about the sad demise of Former Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, at 05:05 PM."

The statement further informs that his condition was stable for the last nine weeks, but unfortunately it "deteriorated over the last 36 hours and he was put on life support systems. Despite the best of efforts, we have lost him today. We join the Nation in deeply mourning this great loss."

A number of Bollywood celebs took to social media to mourn the loss of Vajpayee. From Priyanka Chopra to Arjun Kapoor, a sea of condolence messages from celebs and fans has flooded social networking sites.

Priyanka took to her Twitter account and wrote, "Former Prime Minister Shri #AtalBihariVajpayee's visionary ideas and contributions for India were truly remarkable. The nation will always remember... #RIP My thoughts and condolences to the family."

John Abraham shared on his Twitter page, "For me he was one of India’s greatest leaders loved and respected by all. He will be missed. RIP #AtalBihariVajpayee"

Parineeti Chopra reminisces,"My growing up years were spent under the country leadership of #AtalBihariVajpayee. And so for me, all memories of any prime minister are always compared to him !! He's going to live forever in our hearts."

Raveena Tandon Thadani wrote on Twitter, "Leaving behind a legacy of greatness.. My deepest condolences on the sad demise of Shri #AtalBihariVajpayee ji.. May his soul rest in peace.. OmShanti"

Rana Daggubati shared a picture of Vajpayee and wrote alongside,"Today we lost a great statesman, poet and orator. A man who dreamed of a glorious nation and strived to take us on the path to prosperity. Rest in Peace #AtalBihariVajpayee ji."

Arjun Kapoor took to his Twitter account and shared,"Heartfelt condolences to #AtalBihariVajpayee ji's family and dear ones. May his soul rest in peace."
