Ranveer recounted on Koffee With Karan how he was mesmerized when he first saw Deepika at director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's house, describing her as a vision in a white chikankari dress with her hair blowing in the wind.

Bhansali played a significant role in their romance, directing them in three hit films: Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat. The couple's bond deepened after a memorable moment when Deepika asked Ranveer to help remove a piece of crab from her teeth, a gesture that marked a turning point in their relationship.

Even though Deepika and Ranveer were free to see other people, Deepika admitted she "would always go back to him [Ranveer Singh]."

On Koffee With Karan, fans learned that the couple got engaged early in their relationship. The superstars revealed they had been engaged since 2015 while skillfully dodging dating rumors from the media and fans.

Ranveer Singh revealed he proposed in 2015 and kept it secret for three years, saying, “Before someone else did, I decided to.”

Ranveer Singh detailed his proposal, saying, “During our dating phase while filming Ram Leela, I decided she was the one. I secretly got a ring with my family’s help and planned to propose during a holiday. When asked if I’d consult her parents, I felt I was ready and just wanted to ask her myself. So, we went to the Maldives, and I carried the ring for our sandbank adventure.”

In 2018, November 14-15, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone got married in a private, destination wedding in Italy, at Lake Como, surrounded by close friends and family.

On September 8, the couple welcomed their first child. They are blessed with a baby girl.
