Karan Johar's Dharmatic Entertainment announced an upcoming rom-com to be streamed on Netflix. The film is titled Meenakshi Sundareshwar and stars Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani in the titular roles. The movie marks the directorial debut of Vivek Soni and is set against the backdrop of Madurai. The romantic comedy speaks to the trials and tribulations of a young couple in which Sanya and Abhimanyu play eponymous roles. The film marks the actors first outing with KJo.
Along with the announcement, the makers unveiled the first look of Meenakshi Sundareshwar. In the photo, both are seen as a South Indian bride and groom. Abhimanyu is seen in a white silk shirt with a mundu and mel mundu. While Sanya wore a red and yellow Kanjeevaram saree with temple jewellery.
Karan shared the first look on his Instagram page and wrote, "What's in a name? Marriage, love, laughter, tears. Meenakshi Sundareshwar is ready for it all. Are you? Coming soon to Netflix. @netflix_in @apoorva1972 @abhimanyud @sanyamalhotra_ @vivek.sonni @somenmishra @dharmaticent."

Sanya shared the post and wrote, "You are cordially invited to Meenakshi and Sundareshwar's wedding. Send gifts and long-distance relationship tips!" While Abhimanyu penned, "What's in a name? My wife Meenakshi and I can assure you a lot."
This is the first outing of Sanya and Abhimanyu together. Talking about Netflix, Sanya already made her debut on the streaming platform with the recently released Ludo, while Abhimanyu is set to make a storm on OTT after his debut film, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota.
