The first video from Varun Dhawan-Sara Ali Khan starrer Coolie No 1 is out, but Johnny Lever eats the cake
After a long wait, Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan unveiled the trailer of their upcoming movie 'Coolie No 1'. They did so at a trailer launch, which Varun, Sara and Paresh Rawal attended. For the uninformed, Paresh Rawal plays the third lead - as Sara's father in the movie.
The trailer begins at a very confusing stage. Varun, who is expected to be a 'coolie', is shown as a billionaire, who talks to ATM - Ambani, Trump and Modi - in a conference call. Paresh Rawal describes him as 'Richie Rich' and shares that he could even buy the 'White House'.
The song 'Husn Hai Suhana' and 'Main Toh Raste Se Jaa Raha Tha' also make it to the trailer. While the former has not been reworked much, the latter is, but it does not prove to be a headache. Wordplay, too, is quite common in the trailer, but there is no full-punch to any.
The best punchline comes when Johnny Lever as a police inspector breaks into a dance in the middle of an interrogation. 'Woh Coolie hai, Coolie hai, Coolie hai,' he says, ensuring people laugh out loud while watching the trailer.
Most David Dhawan movies from the 90s was about the father and the boy his girl loves being constantly at war and 'Coolie No 1' is no different. Varun brings his elements to the trailer but only for a span of seconds. He constantly tries to be someone else, a person more like Govinda's role, but just looks over-the-top.

'Coolie No 1' also stars Rajpal Yadav, Sahil Vaid and Javed Jaffrey in pivotal roles. The movie marks the collaboration of David Dhawan and Vashu Bhagnani as director and producer like their 1995 film, featuring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead roles. The Varun Dhawan-Sara Ali Khan starrer is slated for release on Amazon Prime Video on the eve of Christmas i.e. on December 25.
