Four years back, Aamir Khan had released one of the biggest hits of his career - 'Dangal'. The movie, in fact, had done such wonders that it went on to save a single screen theatre from shutting down.

In response, the owner wrote Aamir a letter, thanking him for making 'Dangal' which helped him recover the losses. This, in turn, helped his theatre sustain during the difficult times.

Aamir had received two letters from single screen owners, thanking the actor for 'Dangal', which helped them retain their business in times of currency demonetization in India. Another challenge they faced was in the form of multiplexes. The big screens took more seats, leaving small screens with lower profits.

The letter from a theatre owner in Raigarh mentioned that the movie made people realize that there isn't lack of cinema, but good cinema. The exhibitor from Ghasna (Ghaziabad) mentioned how his single screen theatre was on the verge of shutting down till 'Dangal' released.

Take a look:

'Dangal' introduced Zaira Wasim, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra in Bollywood. While Zaira has now quit Bollywood to follow Islam, Fatima and Sanya continue working in the industry, some times even in the same film. More recently, they appeared together in Anurag Basu's movie 'Ludo'.

A movie based on the life of Phogat sisters and their family's passion for wrestling, 'Dangal' went on to create wonders at the Box Office, not only in India but also in China. The movie released in China, paving way for other Indian films like Irrfan Khan's 'Hindi Medium' and Prabhas' 'Baahubali'.

For the uninformed, 2016 was a unique year, where for the first time both the Khan superstars Salman Khan and Aamir Khan had focused on bringing forth a story about wrestling. While Salman featured in Ali Abbas Zafar's 'Sultan', based on a fictional character, Nitish Tiwari focused on Geeta and Babita Phogat's story and brought it to life with Aamir Khan in the lead role - as a young wrestler and an older father coach to two on-screen daughters - in 'Dangal'.
