Yet another tussle between Bangalore University VC, registrar

The simmering tussle between Bangalore university vice-chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev and registrar (administration) BC Mylarappa has again resurfaced. This time the bone of contention is the appointment of Dr N Nandini as the head of environmental science department.

Though the government order was issued on Saturday morning and the registrar had even called a press conference to announce the  appointment. But soon after the vice-chancellor issued an order to cancel the posting and said he was kept in
the dark.

However Mylarappa said, “The vice-chancellor and I had agreed upon it three months ago. The government order came only
today.”

The vice-chancellor in his order stated, “I am surprised to see the order, which has been issued without the approval of the vice- chancellor. Even the government order referred to the said university order was not brought to my notice. Therefore the order issued by the registrar, without the approval of the vice-chancellor, stands cancelled. The registrar should immediately issue the cancellation order.”

Earlier in the day, the principal secretary of higher education Siddaiah had issued the appointment order. Sources said that Mylarappa had met Siddaiah personally and got the appointment order. Siddaiah said, “We received only that recommendation and accepted it.”
