Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Tuesday demanded the intervention of planning commission for allocation of domestic gas for gas-based power projects at Bidadi, which has been pending for several years.
He made the demand during a meeting with deputy chairman of planning commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, in New Delhi.
He said that Karnataka was facing severe power crisis and to overcome it the state needed coal linkages to power projects in the state.
He also sought environmental clearance for Edlapur and Godhna thermal power projects and Gundya hydro-electric project. He also demanded the finance commission to advise the Railways to finalise the PPP policy and speed up ongoing railway projects.
He requested the Centre to sanction an Indian Institute of Technology to Karnataka besides approving IIIT at Dharwad. Informing the Centre about the success of the mid-day meal scheme in primary schools, he sought the Union government’s advice in extending the programme to high schools (standard 9 and 10).
He demanded allocation of funds in the ratio of 75:25 to implement the Right to Education Act. He sought more funds under National Rural Health Mission to 12 high-focus ‘C’ category districts with very low health indicators.
