Yeddyurappa also called on party men to ensure that the JD(S) is wiped off the political map of the state, and urged his supporters to ensure that the BJP wins the by-elections.
Frustrated by the internal rebellion and the efforts to topple his government, chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Monday hit back at the opposition, challenging them to a fight in the polls. Predicting that the government of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the Centre would collapse after assembly elections in the five states, he said a mid-term election is likely for Lok Sabha.
“People have totally rejected the opposition Congress and JD(S) in the state. They are now destitute, and on the streets. Still, they demand my resignation. And they have been doing it from the day I took charge. I am fed up, with all these legal battles and false allegations. If the opposition really has something to say, it can just go to the people’s court — I am ready to face a trial before the public,” Yeddyurappa said.
He was addressing mediapersons after the party meeting to discuss preparations for the by-polls to three assembly constituencies on April 9. Dismissing reports of differences within the party, he said, “BJP will win all three assembly seats, and we will thus demonstrate our unity and strength, and prove that there are no differences.”
