Victoria Hospital updates Court on Katta Subramanya Naidu’s health

The medical superintendent of Victoria Hospital on Thursday apprised the Lok Ayukta special court about the progress in the treatment of jailed former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu who is undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The Lok Ayukta special court had summoned the medical superintendent, BG Tilak, to know about Katta’s health condition.

It may be recalled that the resident medical officer (RMO) of Victoria Hospital had at the last date of hearing submitted to the court that the former minister had to undergo a surgery. The RMO had submitted an application in this regard along with a medical certificate and a 15-page copy of Katta’s medical history.

Judge NK Sudhindra Rao had accepted the application and directed the medical authorities to keep the court informed about the former minister’s medical progress.

Dr Tilak submitted in writing that Naidu underwent a scan on Wednesday and the report was awaited on Thursday. The report will be submitted to the surgeon who will take the final call on the surgery date.

The judge directed the hospital authorities to inform it by Saturday morning about Katta’s surgery date.

The Lok Ayukta court had also summoned jail superintendent TK Lakshminarayana. The court expressed its dissatisfaction as police authorities had posted a letter according sanction for Katta’s surgery to the court and had not handed it by hand.

Judge Sudhindra Rao told the jail superintendent that these were serious issues and the letter should have been given by hand and not through post.

Lakshminarayana assured the court not to repeat the mistake in the future.

The court also received two letters from the jail superintendent that the CT scan expenses should be borne by Katta himself.
The judge asked Lakshminarayana why two letters were sent on the same issue and Lakshminarayana submitted that it will not be repeated in future.

It may be recalled that Katta, his corporator-son Jagadish, and Srinivas, managing director of Itaska Software, have been arrested and sent to jail in connection with a KIADB land allotment scam. They have been accused of irregularities in allotting KIADB land in BK Halli village to the software company, which had been reportedly been floated by an aide of Katta.
