Two arrested for woman’s murder in Bangalore

Police on Monday nabbed two of the four culprits who murdered a 43-year-old woman two months ago. Investigations revealed that Rs10,000 supari was given to murder Jayamma, a street hawker selling vegetables and flowers in Nayandalli near the railway gate.
Interrogations unravelled the motive behind the murder. For the past six years, Jayamma had been supplying flowers to Infant Travels, a gas station on Ring Road at Pantharpalya.

Chandru, who was working in a garage in the same premises, had borrowed Rs15,000 from Jayamma. He kept giving excuses about returning the money, which infuriated Jayamma. On December 7 last, Chandru promised her that he will definitely return the money. But he did not keep his word. An enraged Jayamma abused him and kicked him. This angered Chandru and, to seek his vengeance, he gave supari of Rs10,000 to his friend Anand to have her murdered.

Anand, along with his friends Santosh and Mani, hatched a plan to kill her. On January 17, at 2.30pm, they barged into her house when her son and daughter were at work and strangled her to death, using the cord of a mobile phone charger.

The police managed to nab two murderers:  Yogananda alias Anand alias Dadiya alias Upendra, 21, a resident of Maruthinagar in Sunkadhakatte, and Mani alias Manikanta, 30, a resident of Veerabhadranagar. The duo confessed to murdering her and also robbing her of 30gm of gold.

Police have recovered a gold chain weighing 9 gm from the culprits. The arrested were involved in dacoity, robbery, and theft cases.

According to sources, Chandru hails from Tamil Nadu, and search is on for him and Santosh Kumar, who are absconding.
