A 28-year-old autorickshaw driver, who had gone to see a dead body found on a railway track, was run over by a train moving on an adjacent track in Deepanjali Nagar on Monday.

The incident took place around 11.30 am when Narasimha Reddy, a resident of Corporation Layout, was returning to his autorickshaw after watching the dead body. The crowd gathered at the spot tried to alert Reddy.

However, he could neither hear the train’s noise nor the shouts from the people as he had put on earphones. Reddy was quite famous in Corporation Layout and Deepanjali Nagar due to his helping nature, the police said. The body found in the railway track was that of Harish, 25, a mineral water supplier, who had committed suicide. The incident came to light around 10.45pm.

Harish, was a resident of Deepanjali Nagar and native of Chickmagalur district. The reason for his taking the extreme step could not be known.
