BBMP special commissioner has ordered all executive engineers to submit all files pertaining to the Rs1,539-crore bogus bill scam to him, in order to hand it over the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for investigation. He said on Friday that engineers failing to do so would face strict action.

The scam, which allegedly took place during 2008-09 and 2010-11, relates to Gandhinagar, Malleswaram and Rajarajeshwarinagar zones. So far the engineers have provided only 479 files and remaining 9,630 are yet to be submitted.CID superintendent S Maheswarappa, on February 1, had written a letter to special commissioner to provide all the files for the investigation. The special commissioner wrote to all the zonal engineers to provide the required files or face strict action. BBMP sources said in Gandhinagar zone, of 4,962 files pertaining to 1,907 works, only 251 have been submitted to CID. In Malleswaram, 104 of 3,309 files for 1,297 works were handed over to the CID.
