Student dies in sleep after party

A party by engineering students to celebrate the completion of their course ended in a tragedy on Thursday.

Sanjeev Kumar Bailannanavar, 22, and seven other students of HKBK College of Engineering, Nagawara, gathered at the rented house of his friend Ravi in Hebbal. While saying good-bye to their campus life, they wanted to make the occasion memorable. So, the party began, liquor flowed and the merrymaking went deep into the night. When it all ended, some friends went home while Kumar, whose house was afar, decided to stay back at Ravi’s place.

His friends woke up at 8 am on Friday. But Kumar did not. When they tried to shake him from his slumber, he did not respond. He was dead. They informed the police.

Police said the drunk youth might have suffered a heart attack in sleep. The police are now waiting for the postmortem report to know how he died.
